The Craft
The weaving technique used in making of the Tibetan carpets is very unique. The most common style known worldwide is ‘Persian’. Here knotting the yarn around the warp thread produces the pile of carpet. Whereas, with the Tibetan style, it is created by cutting the loops that are made by pulling the yarn tightly over the metal rod. The Tibetan style is very rarely used in other carpet producing countries. Also with the Tibetan style technique it can create various designs.

The Design
Carpet designs are very vast. With the traditional we find Asian influences, Buddhist iconography and Tibetan folk mythology. With the approach of modern preference, carpet designs have expanded in colors and patterns. Therefore, with the existent of conventional elements found present in the carpets it brings about a Nepalese-Tibetan expression.

The Wool
Tibetan carpets are hand knotted and made from 100 percent wool. With the use of superior kind of wool, the Tibetan carpets have been consistent in producing high quality carpets. The wool, which is used, is top of the line Tibetan and New Zealand wool. Tibetan wool comes with a rugged, mystique feel of the Himalayas. With the grazing of the Tibetan sheep at an altitude of 18000 feet, it produces a thick fleece of extraordinary tensile strength.
